Licence desk

Put a real name to the care.

For a clinic or online service found elsewhere, first identify the clinician who would assess your concern.

Ask for the clinician’s details.

Request the full name, professional role, licence number and licensing state. Ask how their training fits the problem you want help with.

A state medical board can show a doctor’s current licence status and public disciplinary history.

A record without public discipline is not a rating of that doctor’s care.

For a doctor, use the board directory below and open the relevant state’s own record. For another licensed role, ask which board holds the record.

For a screen visit, check your location.

Under federal telehealth guidance as of September 26, 2026, clinicians need a licence or other permission to practise at the patient’s location.

The exact permission depends on that state’s rules.

Find out which pharmacy is involved.

The U.S. medicines agency, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), warns that patients using online care for compounded medicine may not know who prepared it.

A compounded medicine is prepared or mixed for an order instead of being a finished product from a drug company.

Before you pay for a proposed medicine, get the pharmacy’s complete name. Use the state record, rather than a logo, for the licence check.

A pharmacy licence confirms a licence exists; it does not confirm that a particular medicine is being dispensed properly.
